Coats for Kids!
Someone posted a meme, or perhaps it was an article, about the holiday season recently. To paraphrase, it basically said 'let's knock off the excessive consumerism this year, stop being selfish and greedy, and maybe do something nice for others.'
And I thought to my self, you know what? That's a great idea. So I suggested to my writer's group (The Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers) that perhaps we should get in touch with a charity and help them out. Someone from the Capuchin Soup Kitchen answered my query!
So this year, GLAHW is collecting winter coats for needy children for CSK's Coats for Kids program. We've got 2 drop off locations in the Metro Detroit area so if you can, please swing by one and drop off a coat. See all the details on the flyer I've posted below.
I'm not saying we can't want things for ourselves (I'm eyeing Supernatural Season 9) but there are others out there without the basics/necessities this coming winter. Maybe DON'T buy yourself that 57" plasma television or the mechanized recliner that will slowly raise your butt out of the chair via remote control and spend that money on someone who just wants to stay warm.
Thank you.
